The ennegram 6w5 – my interest in enneagram started at work where I was introduced first to Myers-Briggs then after a test, I found my particular enneagram 6w5 – my first reaction after reading about my findings shocked.. It was quite a big finding for me, as many also mentioned that most of the time your childhood can also affect your enneagram types and also your wing type in this instance 6w5. I was never a big fan of analysing this, although since I took this test, I have been trying to understand myself more an connect the dots. My personality style and behaviour in a lot of cases totally matched the 6w5 type-
The Enneagram is a personality typing system that was first published in the 1940s. It has been revised and updated many times since then, but it’s origins are still largely unknown. There are nine different types of personalities within the system, each with their own distinct traits. Some people will find they’re more like one type than another, while others may identify with several types at once depending on what situation they happen to be in at any given time. The 6w5 type is introverted and intuitive – an observer who just wants to make sense of the world as best they can before taking action or giving input into it themselves.
The 6w5 enneagram
Also known as the guardian or defender is one of the two wings of the 6 type also known as the loyalist or devil advocate. For the type 6 there are two wings 5 & 7, both wings are extremely important when trying to understand an individual behaviour. But what could be the main difference? 6w5 is a combination of both the type 6 and the type 5, The investigator who are known to perceptive, innovative and isolated, whilst the 6w7 is a combination of both the type 6 and the type 7 the enthusiastic known for being extroverted, optmistic, versatile, spontaneous.
Both of those wings play an important role on the type 6 part known for being anxious, supiscious and hard working. what could a combination of those two types give, depending on the wing type a totally different person who has the combination of those two types, in my case the type 6w5 I can identify, and has already seen some important influence from the wing 5. Both have strenghts & weaknesses which I have realised throughout the years but now after studying the enneagram types I understand more and can trying to adapt to situation.
The 6w5 temperament is a thinker who enjoys complex problems and being challenged. They are perfectionists, often feeling frustrated by the flaws in themselves and others around them. This personality type craves validation from their peers to feel confident about themselves. In personal relationships, they can be clingy or emotionally distant depending on how needed they feel by those close to them at any given time. At work, this personality type values logic over creativity but may have difficulty accepting criticism of their own ideas when it differs from what everyone else has said.
